We are pleased to announce the LAMP Boatworks Chaisson Dory Tender Drawing! We will be giving away our beautiful little rowing boat, complete with hand-made ash oars, to the lucky winner of this contest. The 10′ long wooden boat was built by our volunteers at the Lighthouse and its hull number is LMP0003. All donations received from the drawing will support LAMP Boatworks, our traditional wooden boatbuilding program.
Suggested minimum donation is $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20. The drawing will be held in conjunction with the Lighthouse Maritime Festival on March 20, 2010. LAMP representatives will be traveling with the boat to a variety of events and locations throughout St. Augustine, where tickets will be available, and tickets will always be available at the Lighthouse through the time of the drawing. The LAMP Boatworks Chaisson Dory Tender Drawing is a contest to give away the 10’ long wooden boat, a Chaisson Dory Tender, along with a pair of hand-made oars. This boat was built by the volunteers of LAMP Boatworks at the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum and it is pictured above. The institution organizing and conducting the drawing is the Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program, Inc., also known as LAMP, a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and preserving the maritime heritage of our nation’s oldest port, St. Augustine, Florida. LAMP is the sister organization to the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, Inc., and is located on its grounds at 81 Lighthouse Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida 32080. Individuals wishing to participate in the drawing will be issued numbered tickets. The participant (each an entrant) must legibly print their name and contact information (phone and/or email and/or mailing address) on the ticket stub in the space allowed or on the back of the stub. The participant must retain the main section of the ticket as proof of having the winning number. The stub will be retained by LAMP and stored in a secure location until the time of the drawing. No purchase or contribution is necessary for a ticket, but the suggested minimum donation is $5.00 per ticket, or $20.00 for five tickets. Entrants must be located in Florida and at least 18 years old when obtaining the ticket. Tickets will be limited to 100 tickets per person. Individuals wishing to acquire tickets may do so at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum at the address listed above during regular office hours, or from LAMP representatives who will be available to issue tickets at various events and locations throughout St. Augustine and other regions in Florida. The tickets will be made available commencing on December 9th, 2009 through March 20, 2010 up to approximately 15 minutes before the drawing.
The drawing will be held at approximately 5:00 pm on March 20, 2010, in conjunction with the Lighthouse Maritime Festival on the Lighthouse grounds at the address listed above. At that time all ticket stubs retained by LAMP will be placed in a container. An individual designated by LAMP who is not participating as a drawing entrant will select at random a stub from the container. The number on that stub will be the winning number, and the name and number will be announced at that time. If the entrant is not present at the drawing or does not claim the prize at the drawing, LAMP will make a reasonable efforts for thirty days after the drawing to contact this person using the contact information provided by the entrant (if legible) on the ticket stub, and will post the winning ticket number and/or the name of the entrant (if legible) on the LAMP webpage at www.LAMPmaritime.org. The winner of the drawing shall have 30 days from the date of the drawing to contact LAMP in order to claim their prize. If the prize is not claimed by the winner by the expiration of 30 days after the drawing and LAMP cannot locate the winner through its reasonable efforts during such period, a second drawing will be held, and the above rules will be followed until a winner is identified.
LAMP will deliver to the winner the boat and its oars free of charge to any address in St. Johns County. For a winner residing outside the county, the winner will be responsible for promptly picking up and/or arranging for delivery of the boat, at the winner’s sole cost and expense. No trailer or any other material other than the boat itself and its oars are offered as part of the prize.
The prize boat was built by volunteers and as part of an educational project. While the boat was built to certain specifications, it is provided in this drawing “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED.
Each entrant, as a condition of participating in this drawing, does hereby release LAMP, the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, Inc., and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, volunteers and agents (the “Releasees”) from and against any claims against any of the Releasees that the entrant has or may have in connection with the operation of this drawing and/or the use and purchase of the prize. The winner, as a condition of being entitled to the prize, shall be required to complete a release and indemnity form releasing and indemnifying the Releasees from any liability or claim arising in connection with use of the prize or this drawing.
LAMP Boatworks has been issued a Manufacturer’s Identification Code from the U.S. Coast Guard and is regularly inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard Recreational Boat Testing and Factory Compliance Program. The Chaisson Dory Tender prize boat’s hull number is LMP0003. It has been rated by the Coast Guard for 3 passengers or no more than 450 lbs of people and gear. The vessel is not rated or intended for propulsion by motor. It is the responsibility of the winner to follow safe boating practices as established by the U.S. Coast Guard.
LAMP shall have no liability if the prize is damaged, lost or stolen before it can be awarded, but LAMP may, in its discretion, agree to repair the damaged boat or arrange to build a replacement boat for the winner.
All risk of loss or damage to the boat and all risk and responsibility for use of the boat is assumed by the winner.
